Who or what inspired you to be become a designer? Southern Living! From a young age, I would devour the magazine each and every time it arrived at my parents’ home. It has always been the design “surprises” that intrigue me the most. The little strokes of genius or ingenuity that designers would sneak into a client’s home that reflect the client’s own personality.

What do you hope to achieve when designing a home? I strongly feel a home should be a comfortable space that reflects your life and unique personal style. I think it is important also to serve as a backdrop for daily inspiration.

How would you describe your style? This is a tough question for me because I have great love for many different styles of design! Some examples include traditional with a twist, modern with clean lines and little clutter, beach house Bohemian and truly many more. My biggest hope is that when people enter my clients’ homes, they see my clients’ styles – not my own personal style.

Where do you get your inspiration from? I know it is cliché, but inspiration is everywhere. I find it in nature, my kids’ unusual color combinations, fabrics, wallpaper, materials, fashion, photography. Often design includes problem solving, and the problem usually is inspiration for the solution.

Describe a perfect Saturday for you in the Golden Isles: Saturdays are my favorite. I love a slow start morning followed by hot yoga and a day spent out on the water. Boat rides and a picnic lunches with my family are two of my favorite things. Hopefully, fish will be caught and we will come home to wrap up the day with a wonderful meal at home.

A local you admire: Michael, my husband, for both his strong work ethic and the constant adventure and laughter he brings to our lives. Michael grew up here and it has been wonderful to see this amazing place through his eyes. From Sapelo to Cumberland, adventuring with him is always the best.

Favorite landmark in the Golden Isles: I am partial to all the beaches in the Golden Isles. It would be difficult to name a favorite. Days spent on the beach with our kids and family friends are always the best days. My husband and I were married at Crane Cottage on Jekyll Island, and that place will always hold a special place in my heart. It is hard to match the history and beauty of the Golden Isles.
