Favorite holiday tradition: It’s tough to choose just one favorite. It all starts with Christmas music and decorating the tree with the kids. Pulling out the ornaments they have made throughout the years and listening to them tell stories. We love the 12 days of Christmas light show on Jekyll. It’s so magical to see the lights. Christmas Eve is a highlight as I look forward to getting dressed up and going to celebrate our Savior’s birth at church. We enjoy dinner after and then come home and put on our Christmas pjs and snuggle by the fire and read ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas. And it never fails, Santa always calls to tell the kids good night and you can hear the sleigh bells in the background. It’s truly perfect!
Who or what inspired you to pursue a career in real estate? My first inspiration for getting my real estate license was my dad. He suggested I get my real estate license and I scoffed at the idea. Several years later I moved to St. Simons and managed a restaurant. After marrying my husband I was spending time with my brother-in-law, Roland Daniel, and mentioned my interest in real estate. The rest is history as you could say. He mentored and trained me in the business and I am forever grateful. This business has been such a great fit for me as it allows me the fulfillment of a career and also the freedom to be active in my children’s lives.
What advice would you give to someone looking to buy a home in the Golden Isles? If you are looking to purchase property in the Golden Isles the best piece of advice I can give you is to practice patience and be prepared. With inventory restrictions you will want to be ready when the perfect home hits the market. Developing a relationship with a buyer’s agent as soon as possible is imperative. Go ahead and get your financing secured and be ready to act quickly. Do the necessary due diligence now to determine what area you are interested in and the price range you are considering. When the perfect property hits the market, put your best offer on the table. And do your best to stay “even”. The home buying process is emotional and can be stressful but if you put your best foot forward and miss out then there is another house out there for you!
What are some of your goals for 2022? Coming off a year like 2021 it’s hard to imagine 2022 being better. However, I do look forward to watching our market continue to thrive despite the inventory challenges. I love learning and expanding my knowledge to better serve my clients. In 2019 I started as a mortgage loan officer alongside my real estate career. My brokerage is Loan Velocity and I get the pleasure of working under the leadership of Tim Gentry. Challenging myself and learning the mortgage industry has made me a better Realtor. Working for a mortgage broker we have access to 10-12 different lenders and that allows us to shop for the best mortgage for our clients. There have been some exciting announcements in the mortgage industry with the conventional loan limits increasing. With the rise of property values the timing has been great to help clients get a cash out refinance loan to tap into their equity. With historically low interest rates it makes a lot of sense to invest in remodeling or paying off debt. The number one complaint I hear from clients is “I would love to cash out on the high property values but I wouldn’t have anywhere to go.” That might be true but having your house updated and keeping up with maintenance is only going to make your home more valuable when you are ready to make the move!
Perfect Saturday in the Golden Isles with your family: Perfect Saturday in the fall is gathering with friends and family and watching the Bulldogs play football ... Perfect Saturday in the spring is watching my family build drip castles on the beach.
