How would you describe the perfect weekend for you and your family? Well, Saturdays are for showing property and football games – Go Dawgs! Sundays are family time. A thanks for our blessings and Mom’s Blueberry pancakes with Matt on the griddle. Then boat over to Ballast Beach for some shark tooth hunting and dropping a cork. Lunch at Jekyll or Coastal Kitchen, then dock time. Finished by a fresh fish dinner with all the kids home. It’s these times together that are so special.

A local you admire: State Court Judge Bart Altman. He has mentored many of our community’s youth by coaching in our recreation department for 20-plus years. He’s a great supporter and role model for our kids in sports and life.

How did you become interested in real estate? Years ago, I purchased several properties on St. Simons Island. I realized during that time that I loved dealing with people on the buying and selling ends of real estate transactions. With my sales experience, real estate seemed like a natural fit. In the 90s, I joined two local developers. These developers had a vision for the development of St. Simons Island. I was excited to participate in these development projects on St. Simons. Additionally, I was inspired to become involved in real estate from reading Trump’s book “The Art of The Deal,” a fascinating description of business, real estate, government regulations and the compromise it sometimes takes to make the deal.

In your opinion, what do you think are some selling points for homes in the Golden Isles? Curb appeal is a good indicator of the initial attractiveness of a property to prospective buyers. Photography and first looks are critical. First looks are now, more often than not, over the internet. Sotheby’s does a great job of having top-notch professional photography. It is very important to have a great internet presence. We have dedicated websites with good exposure to enhance first looks. Of course, market the lifestyle! We are so blessed to live here! I specialize in waterfront properties and our area is still the best value on the East Coast.

What is one thing every visitor must do before leaving the Golden Isles? Neptune Park, the lighthouse, and the pier are treasures within our community. Whether pulling up a crab net, watching a sunset or enjoying an outdoor concert, some of my favorite memories happened here. Everyone needs to count the steps at the lighthouse and enjoy the reward of the spectacular view.
