Tell us about how you started your career as a Realtor: When I moved to St. Simons in 2003, I accepted a job as an office manager for a local real estate firm. I soon realized I wanted to elevate my career. I became a licensed Realtor in 2005 and worked with Saint Simons Real Estate Co. until joining Signature Properties Group in 2016.
What is some of the best advice you have received over the years? A colleague of mine once said you can learn more about a client if you say less and listen more. That reminded me of something Roy T. Bennett wrote – “Listen with curiosity. Speak with honesty. Act with integrity. The greatest problem with communication is we don’t listen to understand. We listen to reply. When we listen with curiosity, we don’t listen with the intent to reply. We listen for what’s behind the words.”
Give us your elevator pitch for someone looking to move to the Golden Isles: There is truly something for everyone here in the Golden Isles. It has a rich history, stunning scenery, residents who are welcoming, great dining, good shopping, adventure and sandy beaches. What more could you want? What are some advantages of raising your sons in the Golden Isles? We are so fortunate to be able to raise our boys here. They are able to learn in and out of the classroom. There are numerous historic sites and parks to visit. The weather is nice year round, so we are able to be outdoors most of the time. There are a lot of creative summer camps offered here that keep them busy and allow for unique experiences. There are also a lot of family-friendly festivals and events throughout the year.
Favorite landmark in the Golden Isles: The St. Simons Lighthouse. My husband and I lived in a condo across from the lighthouse for a few years before we moved to our current home. We would watch the lighthouse at night and sometimes get to see a great horned owl that frequently perched on top of it.
