What sets you apart from your competitors? Homestar and my team! Our owner, Wes Hunt, truly cares about each family we help and making a difference in their lives. A home is integral to the success of the family, and we get to help them purchase what fits their lifestyle and makes them happy. It’s such a rewarding feeling! Whether it’s a $40,000 mobile home – or a $3 million home on Sea Island – to know that you have helped a family with the most important purchase they will ever make – that’s what makes my heart happy. I have an incredible team locally and at corporate, and that makes it all possible. I can’t achieve success without each one of them, and they are my secret weapon!

What would you say is the most rewarding part of your job? Helping people achieve their homeownership goals whether it is their first home, second home, investment, or dream home!

As a native of the Golden Isles, what is something you have learned here that has made you successful today? My parents taught me the value of family and relationships. Valuing others, with their uniqueness and differences, will enrich the lives of everyone. Being raised in the small southern town with a daddy who was a preacher, taught me to go above and beyond to help others. My mama worked alongside him in many ways to help others. I saw their dedication to others and the importance of helping. We have a diverse community and each member is important. Helping others has made me successful in so many ways, and enriched my life.

What advice would you give someone just starting their career as a professional mortgage banker? Read the guidelines and how they apply to your borrowers – learn the products and what works best for the customer you are working with. It’s not a “one-size-fits-all” industry. Each situation is unique and needs different things. Learn the differences so you can guide them to the best product to achieve their goals. It’s important to stay abreast of the industry requirements and how this affects your customers. It is vitally important to align with a company that strives for excellence, cares about the customer, and puts the customer over profit. Truly care about the people you are working with – whether it’s a buyer, a Realtor, attorney, your staff, or the seller – all are equally important and when you care about their needs and put them first!

Tell us about your favorite things to do in your free time: I love being with my family! We enjoy boating, bike riding, hiking, and camping in Georgia State Parks. Also, we enjoy the beaches of Jekyll Island, and exploring our acreage on the Satilla River. Being outdoors is a welcome change from being in the office, and enjoying nature with family and friends is the best way to spend my time.

Favorite landmark in the Golden Isles: Jekyll Island! It is peaceful, beautiful, and provides many different things to do with family or by yourself. It’s a close escape from the busy-ness of life.
