Family: Son, Merritt, 22, who works at Parker-Kaufman, Realtors on Jekyll Island; daughter, Keaton, 19, who is a freshman at Georgia Southern University; and daughter, Arden, 10th grade, at Glynn Academy; and Juliana Germano.

Years in the Golden Isles: My family dates back to 1736 in Glynn County. My fifth great-grandfather, John Clubb, came across the pond from England to Fort Frederica on St. Simons Island with General James Oglethorpe as part of Oglethorpe’s 42nd Regiment of Foot. Clubb fought at Bloody Marsh and the Battle of Gully Hole Creek. Apparently he proved himself on the battlefield, he was gifted Retreat Planation, which is where Sea Island Golf Course stands today.

School: Goodyear Elementary for first grade, and then Frederica Academy from second grade to graduation. Graduated University of Mississippi, Bachelor of Business Administration.

Who or what inspired you to become a Realtor: My father, John A. Kaufman; my grandfather, John C. Kaufman and Wright Parker all not only inspired me to become a Realtor but inspired me to be the best one I could possibly be. They all had excellent work ethics and were well-respected in the community. They left a tremendous legacy and I am blessed to be guiding Parker Kaufman, Realtors as we start our 94th year in business.

What is a selling point for buying a home in the Golden Isles? Brunswick and the Golden Isles offer many options to homeowners. You can live on the beach, golf course, lake, farm, in the middle of the woods, etc. Live here as a full-time resident or part-time resident. Buy a home as an income-producing property and rent it out long term or as a vacation rental. Retire here or raise your children here. The quality of life is unmatched and diverse. There is something for everybody. With a location like the Golden Isles, the real estate sells itself.

A local you admire: My friend, Danny Moore, inspires me. He has the youthful energy of someone half of his age and the wisdom of someone twice his age. Even though life has put situations in his path that would knock the wind out of an ordinary person, not Danny, he lives life to the fullest with a smile on his face and something funny to say is always on the tip of his tongue.

Favorite landmark in the Golden Isles: The Avenue of Oaks at the entrance of Sea Island Golf Club is my favorite landmark. When driving underneath its canopy, I am transported back in time. Those trees have been there for hundreds of years and have stood the test of time and will hopefully remain for generations to come and enjoy.

Describe a perfect Saturday for you in the Golden Isles: A black cup of coffee, a flight over the Golden Isles at 1,500 feet, a drive with the windows down and sunroof open, and a 3:30 p.m. Southeastern Conference football game on the television with friends.
