Family: Michele Miller (mom), Bruce Miller (dad) and Brooks Miller (brother) Years in the Golden Isles:Former home town: Baltimore, Md. School: University of Georgia Occupation: Pre-K teacher at Frederica Academy What brought you to the area: Growing up, I visited my grandfather on Sea Island for my birthday every year, so this quickly became my favorite place to visit. My first year out of UGA, I moved to Washington, D.C., to teach and live closer to my family in Maryland, while my best friend from school, Katie Haack, moved here. After visiting Katie five times throughout that year, and hearing about an available position for a Pre-K teacher at Frederica Academy, I knew this was where I had to live. Within a few weeks of my interview, I packed up, and moved my things from D.C. to St. Simons! Life was flipped upside down in the best way possible! A local you admire: Susan Jobe. Susan is my Pre-K co-teacher at Frederica, and has been my rock since the day I met her. I look up to her in every way! Not only is she an amazing teacher with so much experience to learn from, but she has also become one of my best friends. There is no one else I’d rather spend 40 hours a week in a room of four year olds with! She is so much fun. What is one thing every visitor to the area must do before they leave: My absolute favorite night includes a glass of wine and the Short Rib Ravioli from Cindy at Tramici. I take all of my visitors to do just that! Describe a perfect Saturday in the Golden Isles: It would include waking up early to drink coffee on our back porch, going on a run on the beach, and hanging out with friends at the beach until sunset. The beach is my happy place! What is your favorite discovery about the area: I had no idea so many young families and people my age lived here year-round! Not only is it fun to be young here, but it also seems like an amazing place to raise a family.
