Visitors check out the interesting arts and crafts available at a previous year’s Under the Oaks Art Festival.

Glynn Visual Arts is seeking artists and craftspeople to participate in the 49th Annual Art Under the Oaks Art Festival, scheduled for Sept. 28-29 at Postell Park in the St. Simons Pier Village. The festival will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Art Under the Oaks is an open and free event to the public, and artists from around the region will exhibit their works in a wide range of mediums. Up to 70 artists and craftspeople are expected to present a variety of two- and three-dimensional art, sculpture, photography, jewelry, textiles, ceramics, wood, metal and glass, all of which will be available for purchase.

New this year is the first ever Merry Mermaid Parade, to which other sea creatures and mermen are also invited to participate. The parade will take place at 11 a.m. Sept. 28. The entry fee is $10 per person, and registration is available online at www.glynnvisualarts.org, or beginning at 10:30 a.m. the morning of the parade. Prizes will be given for the best costumes.

The festival is a fun event that will feature something for everyone, including art, food, music, the parade, and the free Kids’ Creation Station.

Proceeds benefit Glynn Visual Arts programming. Details: 912-638-8770, or www.glynnvisualarts.org.
