Favorite discovery about the Golden Isles: I have truly enjoyed getting to know all the great things about the Golden Isles. We have explored Brunswick, Jekyll and St. Simons as a family on the weekends and there is always something new to do. My family’s favorite thing to do is anything that is outside. We love the beach, pool, and riding bikes.
What brought you to the area? My family has spent time here every summer for the last decade and when the job opportunity came available it was a no brainer. The community and our organization have such an incredible statewide reputation it was a true honor to move to the Golden Isles and lead the local Chamber.
What is your favorite landmark in the Golden Isles? Like I said earlier our family loves the outdoors and the beach. One of our favorites, even before moving here, is Driftwood Beach. The kids absolutely love it as the both play in the water and climb the trees.
A local you admire (and why?): I have had the opportunity to meet so many great people here in the Golden Isles that it is hard to choose just one. What I am most impressed with are the good hard working people that make up our community. Our organization, along with many others, are full of volunteers that go above and beyond their regular jobs to ensure the success of needed organizations like the chamber.
What do you believe is a major benefit for becoming a chamber member? It is hard to name one benefit when you consider what the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber does: advocate for free enterprise, fair taxation, education attainment and regulatory reform; fight discrimination, government overreach and apathy; offer unique opportunities to network that help expand business prospects; provide the latest insights on trends and emerging issues; support international trade and connect markets; bring together diverse organizations to tackle issues; conduct leadership training; help businesses tell their special story and a hundred other things for less than businesses pay a part-time employee.
What is your goal for BGICOC in 2020? The Chamber of Commerce has just finished our 3-year strategic plan. We will start the implementation of this plan at the start of our fiscal year in July. Some of the goals from that plan and process are increased membership and a rejuvenated focus on small business.
Describe your perfect Saturday: My perfect Saturday is a good day with my family at the pool or beach. I also enjoy playing golf at one of the many courses that the Golden Isles has to offer.
