Name: Brian Davis

Family: My wife Mary and I will be married nine years in April. We have four children – three sons and a daughter – and three grandchildren – two girls and a boy – and another boy on the way. And of course, our fur babies.

Years in the Golden Isles: We moved to St. Simons Island in October of 2016. It was a lot of fun house hunting after a hurricane! We had to live with friends for about two weeks. We moved down from Athens after I retired from the University of Georgia. We have spent many vacations on St. Simons Island over the years and always thought this community would be a wonderful place to retire. When this opportunity came up, we looked at each other and said, “Let’s move to the beach!”

School: Mary and I both graduated from the University of Georgia and are loud and proud DAWG fans! We don’t make it back up to Athens on game days as much as we like, but we never have to look too far to find a watch party down here!

Occupation: Experiential event producer for Five-Star Audiovisual

A local you admire: My dear friend Georgette Rempfer. She is the perfect example of a friend. Always there when you need something, and there when you didn’t know you needed a friend. She is the true definition of southern hospitality. And you remember those DAWG watch parties I mentioned before? Guess who is usually the host?!?

What does a typical day look like for you with Five-Star AudioVisual? The day typically starts with morning rounds and getting the morning events up and running, and checking in with the clients to be sure that they are set for a successful meeting. Once we make our rounds, our team reconvenes and we come up with a game plan for any other events that are taking place. As the experiential event producer for Five-Star AudioVisual at Sea Island, I am responsible for working in tandem with the catering and conference services department and client meeting planners. I discuss the scope of the event and work to come up with a plan to execute the audio-visual needs necessary for a successful event. We can do everything from a simple flip chart and markers to a full concert set-up. Our team has been a leading player in facilitating “hybrid” style meetings. These meetings include a mix of both virtual attendees and virtual speakers. We have assisted some of the world’s leading companies and organizations conduct successful events in this new meeting world.

What are some of your favorite events you have worked for? I would have to say some of my favorite events have been the concerts that we have assisted in producing. I have gotten to work with some of the biggest names in popular music. I have also really enjoyed working with the RSM and Davis Love Foundation team in putting on the RSM Classic golf tournament every year. This event is so much more than a professional golf tournament.

What is some of the best advice you have received over the years? I believe the best advice I ever received came from a client I met right after I started working down here. “Every day you get to wake up on the sunny side of the grass is going to be a great day!” The moral of the story, we are blessed to live in a place that holds so much beauty, and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of every person we come in contact with. I am grateful that I get to start my day with the sun rising over the Atlantic Ocean, and watch the beautiful sunset from my back yard.

Favorite landmark in the Golden Isles: I would have to say that my favorite landmark would be the St. Simons Pier. It is one of my favorite spots to go and people watch. It may be one of the best spots on the island to see the perfect sunrise and end the day with an even better sunset.

Describe your perfect Saturday in the Golden Isles: This may be the easiest question to answer. My perfect Saturday starts by packing the car and heading to 5th Street to spend the day at our favorite beach spot. To end the day, we head to dinner at one of the amazing local restaurants and spend the evening laughing with friends.
