Family: Wife, Kelsey

Years in the Golden Isles: Less than one

Occupation: Area Director for Young Life Glynn County

What brought you to the Golden Isles? My job brought Kelsey and me to the area. For the last three years or so, a local group of adults have been meeting, praying, and working to bring Young Life, an outreach ministry for high school kids, to Glynn County. I interviewed for the area director position in April, and Kelsey and I moved to Saint Simons in June.

What are you most excited about in the year 2020? In 2020, I am excited for Young Life to really be up and running, especially as we go on our first ever weekend camp trip to Windy Gap in North Carolina in early February! I can’t wait to see the ways that God will work in the lives of kids in our community!

Describe a perfect Saturday in the Golden Isles: The perfect Saturday in the Golden isles would definitely have to start with a slow morning, reading and sipping a cup of coffee on our front porch. Most Saturday afternoons, Kelsey and I end up going on a long walk either at the beach or down the Sea Island causeway to look at the marsh. The perfect evening would either be dinner at Delaney’s or the pizza and a movie deal from Tramici.

A local you admire and why? Larry Wade. Larry has a heart for the Lord, loves his family well, has been a part of starting quite a few ministries in the community, and is unbelievably wise. He is the kind of man whose words carry weight, yet he listens far more than he speaks. He’s been a great friend and someone to look up to since moving here. Larry also picks the best lunch spots and takes you to the hidden gems of the community.

What is one thing that every visitor must do before leaving the Golden Isles? This is a tough one, but I’d have to say that everyone needs to experience lunch at Southern Soul. It’s definitely the go-to spot we take friends to when they come and visit us.

What is your favorite discovery about the Golden Isles? I’ve loved getting to know an entirely new geography and environment. I enjoy running, so it’s been really fun to get to admire the beauty of the oaks, Spanish moss, and marshes as I’ve run up and down the island.
